Moving into a new home during the winter presents many different challenges, especially if you’re in a snowy area. As a moving company operating out of BC and Alberta we have seen our fair share of snow over the past 30 years. Based on that experience, these are just a few of the best tips for moving during the winter:
1. Bring large pieces of cardboard to your new home. You won’t want movers or anyone in your family dragging the snowy sludge into your new home. So put down the cardboard pieces to protect your entry ways from dirty boots. When the moving is all done, you simply pick up the cardboard and the mess is all gone.
2. Make sure you’ve set up the heat ahead of time. If you’re moving into a new home in a cold location, you won’t even want to wait half of a day to get your heater going. Find out ahead of time what you need to do to get your heater running.
3. Keep sand and shovels on hand. In order to prevent accidents from happening during the move, don’t take chances! Shovel the snow away, pour some sand on the ground, and prevent the accidents before they happen.
These tips, and general snow safety, were brought to you by BC Alberta Movers. These tips will help you to have a smooth move into your new home without any accidents. So get started on keeping yourself safe during the winter moving season!
